Reference Logger is written to simply open up a standard reference log and print out only the lines that show hits from outside your site. It also prints them as links, so you can just click to view the sites linking to you. LogCount cgi is a versatile FREE-to-use Unix web site counter script written for Perl 5. The counter script is not large, allows you to use your own images, and includes several handy features enabling it to control all the hit logging needs of most web sites. LogCount can also count with a time display, or show the time without counting. Also supplied is a separate basic log viewer, LogLook, which easily displays a colour coded track of each visitors page hits. LogCount can be called from an Image Source tag, a Hyperlink tag, or a Server Side Include tag. The latter allows you to 'include' the output as normal text on a web page if your server allows SSI calls.

EKLog keeps track of the number of visitors for a page, and also other information such as visit time, visitor host, and visitor browser agent. IP addresses (or a whole sub-net) can be excluded in the access log. The counter can be hidden in the page. If it is not hidden, it can be shown in Arabic digits (default), Chinese characters, or Roman numerals. The font style/colour/size can be altered. A web-based statistics page is available. This page is by default only visible to the admin, but can be enabled for the general public. It can display summary, detail, or both.

Microsoft has added a feature to their Internet Explorer 5 web browser that allows web sites to place icons for display with bookmarks. As a side-effect of this, hits are generated in the web server logs that can be analyzed to determine that a bookmark has been set and for what section of the site. This script performs a fast analysis of those bookmarks and generates a report of what is being bookmarked, and how often and what is the most popularly bookmarked areas of a web site.
